“Start where you are, with what you have. Make something of it…”
George Washington Carver

Valuable by design
We all come into the world with an inherent value. That is the way we were designed. That is the way we were created, and that is the way we should live our lives.
This world is not perfect, so whatever you current circumstances, build and grow from there – no excuses: “Start from where you are”.
Also, since we all come into this world with the same potential, energy and value, we should treat each other with the understanding that we all have value – respect each other: LIVE AND LET LIVE
If you prefer watching a video instead of reading, I always try and post both in text and video. Here is the link to the YouTube Video related this post: “Start from where you are – Weide-Market YouTube“
Once you start, you build momentum
Your circumstances will never be 100% perfect for you to start doing something about your situation, but you have to start doing something about it. Starting is the most difficult thing to do, it’s just physics – getting a stationary object (that’s you) to move, you have to overcome the gravity and other forces that holds it in its current position.
Once you get the object moving, you obviously have to keep it moving, but now it is a little easier since you are building momentum by learning what works and what doesn’t work. You start meeting people and realise there are other people who have similar ideas or goals and you start working together – and the momentum grows.
So “Start from where you are” and build momentum.
This world is not perfect
Be mature enough to realise this world is not perfect, and there will be set backs. Celebrate the small wins along the path, and remember to appreciate where you are now – you’ve grown, you’ve learned, you’ve journeyed.
You are not where you want to be, but you can look back and be thankful you’re not where you used to be.
Joel Osteen
Focus on the input, don’t focus on the output – it’ll take care of itself. Make sure you enjoy the journey along the way and let the experience be enjoyable.
In other words: “Start from where you are” and focus on each step there after instead of trying to attain your goal or manifest your dream immediately after that. You have to pay the full price for what you want and you cannot skip steps (Anthony Iannarino)

Business leaders agree
This post was inspired by a video I saw on “Impact Theory” – a show by Tom Bilyeu. In this particular episode titled “Is Your Self-Identity Limiting Your Potential?” (link redirects to the video), Tom interviewed one of my favourite online personalities: Vusi Thembekwayo.
It is a phenomenal interview filled with MASSIVE GOLD NUGGETS and I’d really encourage you to go watch it – especially if you’re a South African.
Like I said – there are so many gold nuggets in this video, but what stood out for me is that this idea of “Start from where you are” resonates with where I am in my life right now.
I am currently (thankfully) full-time employed, but have always had the urge to start something on the sideline. There have been attempts in the past, but there is an urgency in my efforts now that wasn’t there before.
Go watch the video, it’s really inspiring.
What matters is what you do next
In the interview Vusi Thembekwayo says something that struck me: “Every excuse you make is valid…so what?” Yes, life will knock you to the ground and try and keep you there, there are forces in this world that do not want to see you achieve your purpose in life.
If you’ve been knocked down “Start from where you are” and get up, dust yourself off and decide what are you going to do next. The fact that you got knocked down is a valid excuse to quit, but what you do after that is what really matters.
Get up, dress up, show up and enjoy the process of learning what works and what doesn’t, the results might even exceed your wildest imagination.
Thank you for visiting, enjoy the rest of your week. If you enjoyed this topic, here are some other posts you might enjoy:
